DMTL Announce Organisational Change

Since 2019, our Managing Director, Patrick Leahy has been slowly working towards retirement and now works just 2 days a week.

It is important that, as a business, we portray the correct corporate and organisational structure.

DMTL is a completely different business from the one that Patrick founded in 1987. In fact, DMTL is a completely different business from the one we were even 4 years ago when Patrick started his retirement journey and all of our stakeholders, notably our key customers and key suppliers, require a robust and relevant corporate structure.

With that in mind, Patrick has made the decision to resign his position as Managing Director. Patrick will move to the role of Chairman and we would like formally to announce that, as of 1st July this year, Peter Jones will take up the position of Managing Director.

What Patrick has done over the past 35 years is truly remarkable. He’s built a business from the ground up. It’s survived recessions, it’s survived evolving markets and it’s thrived in the good times but most importantly, it’s retained the core principles that set us aside from many others. Those are principles that Patrick stamped on the foundations of the business and DMTL’s management team really want everyone to understand that those principles will not change.

Rob Leahy will retain his position as Operations Director and Christine Leahy will retain her position as Finance Director until the time comes that Christine wishes to retire too. This is purely going to be down to Christine. Rob Leahy will be in a position to take Christine’s remaining corporate responsibilities when the time comes.

In terms of the day to day running of the business, nothing will change. Patrick and Christine remain majority shareholders of the business and will be involved in all major decisions within the business.

Since Peter rejoined DMTL in 2010 he has displayed everything that is required to move the business forward and Christine, Rob and I are really happy to announce Peter as the new Managing Director of DMTL.
