Temperature Sensor for Electric Vehicles

Thinking Electronic's Electric Vehicle temperature sensor can be used in a number of applications associated with the electric vehicle.

Applications
  • Electric Motor
  • On-Board Charger (OBC)
  • Battery Management System (BMS)
  • Charging Pile
  • Charging Cable
Features
  • Tolerance of R value and B value is around ±1%
  • Higher product stability and durability
  • Customisation of temperature sensor is available in accordance with requirements of vehicle's shocks and ambient temperature conditions
  • Specifications of Φ2mm~Φ5mm are customisable in accordance with requirements of actual applications
  • Various electrical characteristics are available
Function
  • Temperature detection of electric motor
  • Over-temperature protection of on-board charger
  • Over-temperature protection of charging cable
  • Over-temperature protection of charging pile
  • Temperature detection of battery pack
On-Board Charger Application

The Screw-on type sensing top allows for easy installation and can be installed on metallic surface for temperature detection.

The Epoxy coating type directly contacts the detected object and responds faster.

The Tubing type offers better resistance of water, heat, and voltage.

See image 2 in our gallery for specifications of the products available for this application.

Charging Pile Application

For using this temperature sensor within the charging pile the maximum operation voltage is increased, and the increase ranges from 125℃ to 200℃.

The screw-on type sensing top allows for easy installation.

The sensing top, made of stainless steel, is water and corrosion resistant, and offers stable operation and faster sensor response. Φ3mm of the sensor is customisable.

Furthermore, the tubing type offers better water and heat resistance and the PT sensor offers more accurate temperature detection and better product stability.

Charging Cable Application

The screw-on type sensing top allows for easy installation.

The Epoxy coating type directly detects temperature and responses faster.

The Tubing type offers better water and heat resistance and the PT sensor offers more accurate temperature detection and better product stability.

See image 5 in our gallery for specifications of the products available for this application.

Battery Pack Application

Multiple-sensor structure offers better PCB layout and the structure or the electrical characteristics are customisable in accordance with the requirement for temperature detection.

A Little About Thinking & DMTL

DMTL is a fully franchised, authorised Thinking distributor.

Founded in 1979, Thinking began production of NTC Thermistors in 1989, rapidly establishing 2 Chinese factories. In 1997 they developed their first Varistors and PTC Thermistors. 2000 to 2008 saw the company go ‘public’ and also develop 4 more factories, which included TS (AECQ) qualification and the securing of all relevant CL/UL/VDE and TUV qualifications.

The launch of the TVS diode range in 2016 has effectively completed a product portfolio which now addresses all aspects of Protection, whether Over Voltage, Over Current or Over Temperature.

Thinking approvals are across all market sectors, including the likes of Bosch, Panasonic, Schneider, Foxconn and Hella. Whilst the applications are extensive, ranging from Automotive, Metering, Safety and Security and obviously Power Supply.

DMTL initially operated via another UK Distributor, rapidly gaining success in Designing in the UK, particularly in the fields of Smart Metering and PSU. This led to DMTL’s direct appointment as Thinking’s Distributors in 2011.

Since then, ably supported by the technical and manufacturing teams at Thinking, DMTL have successfully developed applications and supply in sectors including, Lighting Control, Fire and Safety, PSU, Telecoms, Metering and a range of PDA uses.
