DMTL's Un-fore-gettable Night at TopGolf

The team at DMTL often arrange social events and have worked together to take on some challenging escape rooms, breathed in the sea air on group fishing trips, raced in a Go-Kart Grand Prix and many more group activities (usually with an element of competition...)

This week, the team decided to visit a local TopGolf venue to test out our golf skills!

The Format

TopGolf is an interactive golf game where you aim for large targets on a driving range.

The DMTL team split into 3 bays to take on the TopGolf challenge. The bays were:

Bay 1: Rob, Patrick, Robert & Ellie

Bay 2: Karen, Julie & Eliot

Bay 3: Pete, Liam & Christine

Prizes

DMTL were offering prizes in the form of Party Poppers (which hold value in the DMTL office!)

• High Score Contest
• Top score in 1 game of the signature TopGolf game – 3 Party Poppers!
• Second highest score in 1 game of the signature TopGolf game – 2 Party Poppers!
• Third highest score in 1 game of the signature TopGolf game – 1 Party Popper!

• Bay Score Contest
• Top combined bay score in 1 game of the signature TopGolf game – 1 Party Popper for each bay member!

Rules:

• You can only submit 1 score in the High Score Contest so we will have 3 different winners.
• Bays 2 & 3’s highest bay score will have 1/3^rd added to it as they have 1 less person than Bay 1.
• Scores MUST be submitted with a photo of the score screen as proof.
• In the event of a tie there will be a longest drive competition where the impartial Directors judge the distance!

 The Results

The games started flowing and Liam took an early lead after game 1 with an impressive score of 101 taking him into first place in the High Score Contest. Closely followed by Eliot who posted an 87. Karen sat in third with 79.

Bay 2 with Karen, Julie & Eliot developed a real team spirit and in Game 2 they encouraged each other to a fantastic team score of 235 which averaged at 78.33 per player. This score would take some beating in the Bay Score Contest!

In the final round of games, Pete moved himself into 3rd place with a score of 80 and Eliot improved his second place score to 93. Liam personified consistency posting 107 points and then 110 points!

As the final scores were being counted, Robert, out of nowhere, began to hit score after score in his final game. The crowd gathered behind Robert's bay as he hit shot after shot after shot.

In, possibly, the most dramatic scene ever witnessed in the TopGolf arena, Robert sat on 109 points after 19 shots and the whole DMTL team stood watching. Robert had 1 shot remaining and required 2 points to take the top spot...

The arena became quiet and Robert prepared his swing. He drew his club back and connected with the ball with perfect precision. The ball rose into the air and, in what felt like an eternity, made it's way towards the green hole. 

All heads turned towards the digital screen to see the following text... BULLSEYE - 10 POINTS! Robert had done it. With a score of 119 he took top spot in the High Score Contest! The crowd went wild!

Conclusion

It was a fantastic evening at TopGolf and everyone enjoyed it very much. We will certainly be visiting again!
